Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 August 2026
Fastaqar is a real estate platform for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. This policy explains what information we collect through our mobile app, our website, and our management portal, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written in plain language on purpose.
Who we are
Fastaqar operates the Fastaqar mobile app and the fastaqar.com website, from Duhok in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
If you have a question about this policy or about your information, the contact details at the end of this page reach us directly.
Using the app and the website
You do not need an account to use the Fastaqar app. There is no sign-up, and we do not ask for your name, your email address, or your phone number in order to browse listings.
When the app first starts, it creates a random identifier for your device and keeps it on the device. We use it to remember which contact numbers you have already paid to unlock, and to stop the service being abused. It is not linked to your name, and it is never shared with advertisers.
Our servers keep the technical records any website keeps, including your IP address and the time of each request. We use them to keep the service running and to limit how many listings can be submitted from one place in an hour.
Listing a property
If you submit a property, you give us the details of that property: its type, price, size, address and location on the map, photos, and one or two phone numbers where you can be reached.
The property details and photos are shown publicly once the listing is published.
Your phone numbers are handled differently. They are stored apart from the listing, and our systems are set up so that no app or browser can read them directly. A number is released to another user only after they have paid to unlock that particular listing, or where that listing is free to contact.
Portal accounts
Our staff and partner agencies sign in to a separate management portal on fastaqar.com. Those accounts hold a name, an email address, one or two phone numbers, a role, and where relevant a city or a company.
These are working accounts for the people who manage listings. Using the app or browsing the website never creates one.
When a member of staff signs in, we set a session cookie in their browser to keep them signed in. It is used for nothing else.
Permissions the app asks for
The app asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can refuse any of them, or withdraw them later in your device settings, and the rest of the app keeps working.
- Location — to show properties near you, work out distances, and centre the map. The app uses your location only while you are using it; it never tracks your location in the background.
- Camera and photo library — so you can take or choose pictures of a property you are listing. We receive only the pictures you select.
- Notifications — so we can tell you about new listings and updates. Notifications are sent to groups of devices by topic; they are not addressed to you personally.
How we use your information
We use what we collect only for the things that make the service work:
- Showing listings, maps, and search results.
- Publishing the properties people submit.
- Taking payment for a listing or for unlocking a contact number, and keeping your unlocks valid afterwards.
- Sending the notifications you have agreed to receive.
- Finding and fixing crashes and faults in the app.
- Protecting the service from spam, fraud, and abuse.
Payments
Payments are handled by First Iraqi Bank (FIB). You pay inside the FIB app, so we never see or store your card details or your banking login.
For every payment we record which device it came from, which listing it was for, the amount, and the date.
When a contact unlock is completed, FIB tells us the IBAN of the account that paid, and we store it alongside the unlock. We keep it for one reason: if you lose your phone or reinstall the app, that IBAN is how our support team can confirm a purchase was yours and restore it to you. We do not use it for anything else.
Submissions that are never paid for are deleted automatically shortly after the payment window closes, together with any photos uploaded with them.
Who we share information with
We rely on a small number of service providers, and share with each only what it needs to do its job:
- Google Firebase — hosting, database, file storage, notifications, and crash reporting.
- First Iraqi Bank — payments.
- Mapbox — the maps on our website. Mapbox receives your IP address and the part of the map you are looking at.
- Apple and Google — distribution of the app through their stores, under their own privacy policies.
- Courts and authorities — only where the law requires it.
What we do not do
Some things are worth stating plainly, because many apps do them and we do not:
- We do not sell your information.
- We do not use advertising networks, and we do not track you for advertising.
- We do not run analytics trackers on fastaqar.com. There is no Google Analytics or similar tool on the site, and we do not use cookies to follow you across other websites.
- We do not build a marketing profile of you.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as it is useful for the purpose it was collected for:
- Published listings stay until they expire or are removed.
- Submissions that are never paid for are deleted automatically shortly after the payment window closes.
- Unlock records and their payment records are kept for as long as we run the service, so the purchases you have made stay valid.
- Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics for the periods Google sets.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.
Because the app has no accounts, we usually cannot tell which information is yours without help. When you contact us, please include something that identifies it — the listing concerned, the phone number on it, or the payment reference from your FIB receipt.
You can turn location and notification permissions off at any time in your device settings. On Android, deleting the app also removes the identifier stored on your device. On iPhone the identifier is kept in the system keychain and survives reinstalling, so that contact unlocks you have paid for are not lost — get in touch if you would like it reset.
Children
Fastaqar is meant for adults looking for property. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Where a change matters to you, we will make it visible in the app rather than relying on you to come back and check.
